![]() ![]() So far, it seems to be very scaled-down compared to gen 4, however, I don't think this is inherently a bad thing. That neatly leads into the other major selling point in a mech game to me, customization. Also while in your mech, you can pick up stuff and attack with it :P) (slight addendum I forgot to mention, you can exit your craft as your character, however, at the time of writing this I've not been shown the significance of this mechanic. However, in gen 4 AC, your NEXT's weapons will track a target independently as much as they can from the direction your NEXT is facing, and while yes, DXM has a lock on for weapons, it doesn't feel nearly as solid as AC4/AC4A also the locking characteristics seem to be locked to a relatively short range and I don't see an immediately obvious way to upgrade it. DXM comes with its own controls of course, but out of curiosity, I tried using gen 4 controls, or as close as I can get, and technically it works. As for gameplay, it feels somewhat similar to gen 4, however to me it feels much slower than the combat in AC4/AC4A but it's still a bit more mobile IMO, partially because stamina management is a lesser concern compared to gen 4. ![]() And I can say that's a pretty accurate description I can't really say if this is a good or bad thing, but coming from gen 4, it is a bit of a jump and may require some patience with some of the characters. Heading into this game, I already had a slight idea of what I was getting into, I knew to expect a more anime style, with a bigger focus on visuals and story/characters. (tried Verdict Day, but didn't like it)** Additionally, I've only played AC4 and AC4A fully. **Please note that I've only played this for about an hour so far, but wanted to share my opinion in case a fellow Armored Core fan wanted to try a different mech game while waiting for the next release. Anyways, my thoughts as someone who has played gen 4 exclusively: I wasn't too ecstatic about going to epic, much less adding a new launcher to the list, but it's free and I don't have the spare money to buy DXM. The ultimate power mecha fantasy I think. At the time of writing this,, Daemon X Machina (DXM) is free on the Epic store for 7 days. A Daemon X Machina game with an online co-op experience centering around squadrons taking on tons and tons of post-game boss battles in return for amazing loot. Plus, who doesn't want to fight a diverse selection of mech bosses? I'm not saying to get rid of PvP, I think it should stay and be improved on but I think co-op is DxM's greatest appeal and potential in terms of online multiplayer. So if you think about it, co-op is more integral to DxM than PvP is. Plus, part of the appeal of Daemon X Machina is the customization and co-op is built around rewarding it after story mode. With that said, I enjoyed the co-op Boss Battles more than PvP that I think Daemon X Machina 2 can solve its "content problem" by expanding on the co-op experience more and add in a harder post-game mode equivalent to Monster Hunter's "G-Rank/Master Rank" where you can easily die in one or three hits but get rewarded twice more in late-game customization. With the customization loot as rewards, it reminds me a lot of Monster Hunter in how people are working towards gear and can show it off. ![]() Because everyone is working together and taking their time, you get to appreciate the finer details and how much was built in to your Arsenal and others. In co-op, it can still be challenging but not blindingly fast as PvP. In some ways, I'd describe it as more of an experimental extra. In PvP, the gameplay is too fast that it's honestly harder to enjoy the finer details and how much was built in to your Arsenal and others. ![]()
